Further up the sunny slope of Lake Millstatt, at 1,500 metres above sea level, God or the world itself, depending on how you look at it, has created a very special, gentle place. Rounded peaks, lush meadows, precious stones rolling along the path and, at its feet, Lake Millstatt, which lies like a green jewel in the valley. And it is here, surrounded by all this nature, that the Götzfried Almhütte stands.

For centuries, the place was used for dairy farming and alpine farming, and thus for livestock and their herders to produce food. This was also the case for our Aunt Gretl, who ran and lived in the Götzfried Hut as a dairy hut for decades and generations.

Stefan, the young farmer at Götzfried, has now turned the original dairy hut into a box seat. With a keen eye for detail and history, but also for modern comfort and elegance, the hut has become a place where you can holiday high above Lake Millstatt from May to October – with the most beautiful view of Carinthia's lakes and mountains included.
