Hiking in Carinthia means walking along paths through shady forests and across fragrant alpine meadows, up to gentle mountain peaks.
The green slopes of the Nockberge mountains glow in the morning light. In the valley, hiking trails follow the shores of the warm lakes, and pilgrimage routes meet long-distance hiking trails that cross borders. Halfway up, scenic stages invite you to take easy hikes with a view of the lake. A little higher up, a hiking tour over the gentle alpine meadows in the UNESCO Biosphere Park Carinthian Nockberge rewards you with unforgettable panoramic views. You can take a break in cozy alpine huts and mountain inns.
A special highlight is a hike to the Granattor via the Millstätter Alm or the Lammersdorfer Alm. Enjoy the path of love and let yourself be enchanted by the picturesque landscape and the breathtaking view of Lake Millstättersee.
From spring to autumn you can hike, walk, cycle leisurely around the lake or ambitiously climb the mountains on a mountain bike. If you like golf, you can get to know one of the most beautiful golf courses in Carinthia on the sunny plateau. You will also find several riding stables on the plateau. Paragliders can circle over the lake from the Mirnock, do a round of water skiing in the evening and end the day with a fish dish.
In winter you have the opportunity to explore various ski areas. These offer something for everyone. From the world cup resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim to the small family ski resort on the Falkert, everything is there. Explore Lake Weissensee on ice skates or take a toboggan hike to the MIllstätter Alpe. Afterwards, you can relax in the Millstätter See bathhouse.
Millstatt am See, 2 km away, is an old cultural center with galleries, symposiums and an old building structure such as villas from the Gründerzeit, but also a 1000-year-old Benedictine monastery. The gastronomy is versatile and the beach promenade invites you to stroll. The artist town of Gmünd with a number of modern galleries and top exhibitions (from Albrecht Dürer to Pablo Picasso) is about 30 minutes away by car.
